Default Saw something odd last night...

I was killing time, messing around with griffons on the snake dance side of rankor... In this one spot I knew there would be a couple of azure shadows popping up, so I was trying to move over the terrain in a way to trigger them one at a time. Two of them popped up right next to each other. I circled back, casted a preparation in anticipation of a fight, but...

they tee'd off on each other.

It was weird. I checked several times to see if they were fighting some other mob, but they were the only 2 things around. They killed each other. I guess it's possible they were positionally next to each other from different spawns, but I missed what started it.

Some mobs just dont like each other.

I feel particularly bad for plant types...everyone seems to pick on them.

Remember that mission where the huge group of mursaat owned all those stone summit warriors and at least 4 bosses along the way as you just walked behind them to reach the end of the mission.

The Azures and the Griffons will face off in Snake Dance on their own, but if you try to lure the mobs together, they don't seem to aggro one another. But seeing two Azures go head to head is indeed a bit strange.

Anyone remember when groups fighting like this would drop items for an easy pick-up.

it's probably in their AI to aggro the first thing they see. It just so happens that, *usually*, the first thing they see is you (normal), but occasionally, they see each *other* first.

Sometimes you'll see tengu kicking ettins' arses up in northern kryta, as well. (the tengu win in short order.)

personally i love seeing mobs fight each other, except when i'm not able to get the last hit in for the drops.

I was once in FoW and someone noticed two mobs start attacking each other. We settled in to watch. A few seconds later another mob pops up right in front of us and almost kills us all (back in the day when Europe never ever got favour). Good times.

The Shadow Army will attack all other mobs. It is fun to run them into each other and then sprint away.

No they don't drop anything unless you did the most dmg or the other creature that was killing them died.

you only get a drop if you score the killing blow.

Mark of pain and snarling driftwoods come to mind.

Another location that comes to mind is in Prophet's Path. Northwest of Augury, there's a ton of Minotaurs and some of them in certain spots attack each other. It used to get annoying back when I farmed that area, using SoJ didn't work too well when they were busy attacking each other... Our guild named them the "retarded minotaurs."

one of the greatest pleasure in this game is watching enemies pooning each other to the death.

I remember running outside of Dunes only to have a stupid sand worm trigger on me and proceed to follow me halfway across the map while I was sprinting >_<

Anyway, I ran through a group of sand elementals as it popped up and needless to say, they got pissed at each other. The elementals proceeded to whail upon the sand worm as it attempted to attack them while blinded. Oh my, talk about good times.
